My own mother set me up for a dousing in near-freezing water this weekend as she nominated me to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Here’s the video.
Episode 12 is a long one as Pete and I discuss the San Jose Sharks taking the C from Joe Thornton. We comment on the Toronto Maple Leafs hiring more fancy stats people so they now have an Analytics Department. Times change fast. Josh Ho-Sang of the New York Islanders spoke up this week and we ask if that’s a good thing (it is).
Western Conference predictions are made as well – listen to find out if the Chicago Blackhawks will finish first in the Central again and will San Jose’s struggles give the LA Kings or Anaheim Ducks a shot at first in the Pacific.
7 Days in and still going. It was a little difficult being away camping and then at a cottage, but I managed to get my exercise in, do my reading, affirmations, healthy breakfasts and wake up without hitting snooze!
The toughest part, I think, is not hitting that snooze bar, but I’m glad when I’m up and exercising. I love the reading part, because I have a stack of books I want to read and by taking 20 minutes each morning I’m making great progress. Right now I’m reading Crucial Conversations.
Follow me on twitter for more frequent updates, and, even better, send me your updates – I want to know if you are taking the challenge too. @MikeBonnLMI
In this week’s episode, Pete and I make our predictions for the National Hockey League’s Eastern Conference. We also add a prediction based solely on last season’s Fenwick stats. We discuss possible NHL expansion into Seattle and the sustainability of the Florida Panthers. The extraskater.com website went down this week and we speculate on reasons why. The question for our listeners is who will win the Connor McDavid / Jack Eichel sweepstakes (ie. finish last in the NHL). Send tweets using #scuttlepuck or email email@example.com.

ScuttlePuck Episode 10: In this episode, Pete and Mike discuss PK Subban’s $72MM dollar deal with the Montreal Canadiens. Also, in the Summer of Analytics, Tyler Dellow, was hired by the Edmonton Oilers, Sunny Mehta by the New Jersey Devils and Eric Tulsky by some mystery team. Pete honours the life of Robin Williams and we have some preliminary discussions about who is going to win the Connor MacDavid sweepstakes.
I’ve read so many “Top 5 things…” articles (and heck, I’ve written a few too) that I tend to ignore them, but this was tweeted out by my brother today and I highly recommend you read it and then do it. It’s simple, fundamental things that we can all do to get a little better every day. Test yourself and see if you can do all 5, every day for one month, starting tomorrow. See how you feel at the end. I’m in and will Tweet my results each day. If you’re with me, Tweet, Share, Comment, Like, whatever, just let me know and let’s have some fun!
